About the Department
The University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance offers quality instruction, personal attention, and excellent and varied performance opportunities – all to prepare you for demanding and productive careers onstage, in the classroom, and in the fine and performing arts. Here, small classes and immediate involvement provide channels for student learning and performing.
“I chose music education because of my interest in music and encouragement from friends. As I progressed through the beginning classes, I felt that teaching would be a wonderful way to spread my passion for music. The music department is quirky: it was always something new. The classes I took and the teachers and faculty I interacted with along the way have shaped me. I also enjoyed the camaraderie in the music department. It felt like a home.”
