Staff Senate serves as a communication link between the staff of the University of Nebraska at Kearney and its administration, faculty and students.
Staff Senate was organized in July, 1995 as a representative group for all staff employees (Office/Service, Managerial/Professional and Directors). The Office/Service Advisory Council that was made up of only office/service employees was created in March, 1990. Although Staff Senate included office/service employees from its start in 1995, the Office/Service Advisory Council did not disband until July, 2000 when it officially merged with Staff Senate.
Staff Senate addresses topics affecting staff members, as it promotes a better working environment. The Staff Senate acts in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor, the administration, and other University groups. Our continuing focus includes:
- Professional Development
- Performance Management
- Staff Recognition
- Improved Communication
Meetings are open to all members of the University of Nebraska at Kearney community. We welcome your attendance at meetings which are held on the third Tuesday of each month in Room 310 of the Nebraskan Student Union at 10:30 a.m. Comments are welcome at staffsenate@unk.edu.
