Located on UNK’s west campus, Discovery Hall is a 90,000-square-foot academic building that houses the construction management, industrial distribution, interior and product design, aviation, cyber systems, mathematics and statistics, physics, astronomy and engineering programs.
The state-of-the-art STEM facility features cutting-edge technology, modern classrooms and interactive lab spaces that provide hands-on learning opportunities in real-world, on-the-job settings. The training students receive in Discovery Hall prepares them for the high-skill, high-wage jobs that are in high demand across the state and country.
An open floor plan promotes collaboration and innovation across different academic departments, creating an environment that allows students and faculty to share ideas and research that advance UNK’s mission and benefit the entire state. The layout also allows visitors to observe lab and classroom activities and provides plenty of inviting areas for students to relax or study between classes.
Discovery Hall opened in August 2020 as part of a $30 million project replacing the Otto C. Olsen industrial arts building.

Cyber Systems has a wide array of programs including:
The Industrial Technology Department is dedicated to the preparation of professionals who compete and excel in dynamic, technological, and global careers. The areas of study include:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nebraska at Kearney offers undergraduate degree programs in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, as well as graduate courses in the Science/Math Education Master of Science in Education degree program.
Physics is crucial to understanding the world around us, the world inside us, and the world beyond us. It is the most basic and fundamental science. Physics challenges our imaginations with concepts like relativity and string theory, and it leads to great discoveries, like computers and lasers, that change our lives. And, studying physics equips a person with excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
The Modern classroom and lab spaces inside the building are designed specifically for the hands-on, specialized training needed to fill the high-skill, high-wage STEM positions in demand across the state and country.
“Our firm is not shy about discussing the quality of the students enrolled at and graduating from UNK, particularly those graduating from the construction management program. The UNK students we have hired show up on top of their game, chock-full of the knowledge, creativity and skills necessary to help them excel on dynamic commercial projects. We attribute these observations to the programming and the internship UNK requires for graduation.”
The program boasts a 100% job placement rate. Read More...
